what i wore- 6 weeks postpartum

over the past 6 weeks i’ve learned a lot about myself.

  • i’ll wake up an extra 30 minutes early if it means i get to shave my legs.
  • i have very little self control when it comes to shopping for nolan (online)
  • doing my hair is my last priority and has been up in a pony tail 95% of the time. maybe it’s time for a haircut?!?
  • i like wearing the same thing everyday. fleece sweatpants and a tank top. thankfully we do 2+ loads of laundry a day, so i can wear them clean.
  • i get excited about wearing makeup, but when it comes to actually putting it on.. i have no motivation.

my outfit below is from last saturday. we got out of the house to visit friends and do a little shopping. although i love taking care of nolan and being home with him, it’s been difficult for me to not get out of the house much- so this was wonderful!

6 weeks postsweater: target, everything else: old navy

(please ignore the wet hair and tired eyes)

i also wore my new favorite handbag, which i wrote about here.

linking up with lindsey, for what i wore wednesday.

10 things you may not know about me..

1. i’m an only child.. and i loved every minute of it growing up.

2. basketball provided me with so many amazing life lessons and experiences. one of the most rewarding aspects of playing basketball 24/7 while growing up was a free college education. “free” ended up being 40+ hours of basketball a week, which has resulted in me having zero interest in the sport.

3. i wear size 12 shoes. and my inseam is 35″. finding something “off the rack” = impossible.

4. i have a weird obsession with doing bridges. i’m as flexible as a popsicle stick, but somehow can manage to do a bridge.

5. my husband tried out with the green bay packers. one of the many reasons why they have quickly become my favorite sports team.

6. i’m allergic to seafood, yet LOVE sushi. vegetarian, of course.

7. b and i have a precious little baby up in heaven, we very rarely talk about it- but think about her daily.

8. guilty pleasure: peanut butter dipped in cool whip

9. i get anxious if my nail polish is chipped or my nails are filed unevenly.

10. i go through 20+ post it notes at work a day.

yes, YOU!

i appreciate YOU.. the one that never comments, but is a loyal reader and follower. we’re all a little shy and i’m certainly shy at first in the “real world”, but i want to get to know YOU. i want to take a few days away from blogging about myself and focus on YOU.

please send me a message on facebook, email me, or comment below. “introduce” yourself.

what’s your blog & shop (if applicable), tell me some things about yourself, a favorite post of yours, three things you couldn’t live without, your favorite color palette, heck tell me your favorite type of toothpaste (fyi: mine is aquafesh.. hehe).

please take a minute and share a little bit about YOUrself

random

random.

i’m an only child. i’m extremely close to my parents and call them at least three times a day.

if it was up to me, i wouldn’t allow capital letters.

i’m a bit of a clean freak. when we first moved into our house i’d dust and mop four to five times a week. i’ve now cut back to one time a week because i drove b crazy.

sometimes i don’t wear my seat belt. when i was a junior in high school, our car got hit head on by a semi. the only reason why i’m here today is because i wasn’t wearing my seat belt and was ejected/ didn’t get crushed. although i’m aware of the statistics, every time i reach for my seat belt, i think back to this event.

my two best friends both moved away this year. one lives in south carolina and the other lives in tennessee. i’m headed to south carolina in two weeks to visit. SO excited.

b’s real name is bruce. i like calling him b better.

basketball used to be my life, literally 90% of my time that wasn’t spent in school was basketball related. after playing college basketball i became a little burned out. i don’t even like watching it anymore.

newest obsession: mason jars.

oldest obsession: cell phone covers. i have thirty of the old nokia covers laying around somewhere.

i was runner up for class clown in high school. i try to cheer people up by making them laugh.

i interview a handful of applicants a week. i’m always tempted to ask a random question.. like if you were a superhero who would you be? and what would your superpowers be?

i don’t like drinking alcohol. don’t like the taste and i literally get hungover after half a drink.

the second i get home from work i head into see bailey and quickly change out of my work pants. i’m in sweatpants within two minutes of being home.

if i don’t feel like working out, i turn up the music and dance ridiculous to burn calories. sometimes i incorporate a microphone (brush).

and lastly.. b’s best friend growing up presided over our wedding ceremony. we were his first and now he’s the priest at our church. here’s a little video of us practicing our vows.

p.s. the winner of the petals, lace, & pearls giveaway is heather michelle. please contact me within 24 hours to claim your prize.

cold hands, warm hearts

i was so excited to be able to participate in the cold hands warm hearts swap.

the goodies i sent out were some handmade (not by me, although i sure wish i could knit) gloves and some bobby pins.

unfortunately, i did not receive a package back, however i’m happy someone is now able to enjoy a pair of handmade gloves from milwaukee. i’ve enjoyed seeing what everyone else received and found adorable gloves and mittens on pinterest- check them out!

angela davis photography {love!}

i recently got in touch with angela davis photography, who used to be one of my best friends way back in fifth grade. she now lives in missouri, however it’s on my bucket list to get over there and have her photograph my babies (not pregnant, mom) someday. check out the amazing work she did with some of the products.

birthday list

as weird as it sounds, one of my goals this year was to actually come up with a birthday list. i’m VERY hard to shop for (yet very easy to please with a simple gesture). i’d rather buy something myself, instead of ask someone else to buy something for me. my birthday falls right around black friday, which means i’m able to find just about anything i want on sale. this year i’ve kept the good ‘ol debit card in my wallet and put together my wish list on pinterest.

p.s. have you entered the giveaway that ends TOMORROW?? so excited to pick a winner!

feeling accomplished

one of my goals for this year was to figure out photoshop and blogger, so that i could design the blog myself. i’m constantly desiring change (too frequently according to my husband) and i really wanted to have the freedom to change and design whenever i wanted vs. having to depend on someone else. after googling tutorials for the past week, the blog is now complete. there are a few tweaks i’ll still be making and there’s a good chance i will have already changed something by the next time you visit, but that’s me.

here were some of the potential headers (and the winner)

which one is your favorite??
i’m hoping to post tutorials soon on how i did everything. in the mean time, if you are in the mood for some free and fun new fonts- check out kevin and amanda’s site.

ketti

i’ve been searching for the perfect case/bag for my dslr {forever!} for a few months. i’m so excited about the two options that i went with.
since i have severe i.need.to.switch.purses.5x/week. i got this great insert which allows me to put all of my lenses and accessories in and just pull out when i want to use a different bag. i’m able to use the non traditional, plain bag for my camera- which love. i found it here, on etsy.

the second accessory i got to carry my camera is a ketti handbag. i did some major research before splurging on this bag and it was worth every penny. i love it so much, that i’ve been using it as a purse sometimes as well. they are very difficult to snag, but after hitting refresh 105 times and waiting around all morning one day, i was able to order one.

i made a matching slipcover last night and am so happy with how they coordinate.
