i’ve contemplated writing this post for a few weeks now, but part of the goal of my blog is to support/help other handmade business owners and i feel that it’s useful information to put out on the table.
shortly after i found out that i was pregnant, i got extremely sick and my main priority became trying to function at work for eight hours a day. my blog took a backseat, as did my shop. i assumed that once i was feeling better, i’d be able to pick up where i left off and everything would remain consistent.
WRONG!!! taking a few months off from blogging and the shop has been disappointing and defeating. as many of you know, running a handmade business is hard work promoting your items is not something that can take a break for a few months. i’ve found myself starting over at square one with promoting, creating new items and researching sponsors. additionally, i neglected a lot of my handmade friends, while i was busy trying to keep food down or curled up in bed (sorry, guys!).
some bloggers and shop owners may be able to pull it off, but certainly not me. i’ve been stressing myself out lately about making sure i’m stocking the shop with new items and coming up with new blog posts. the shop has been easier than blog posts. i have a serious case of writer’s block and i’m constantly brainstorming new items to post- but none of them turn out as i plan, so i trash them.
you’re probably wondering why am i venting?
i think overall my break will benefit my readers and customers. i’ve got some exciting things planned and am so excited to share new products and fabric combos with you soon. products have been sent out to photographers and i can’t wait to post pictures. i have a lot of tutorials coming soon and can’t wait to share the progress made on nolan’s nursery. guest posts? why not, is there anything specific you guys would like to see? i’m hoping for some studio tours and maybe a few “what’s in my bag” posts since those are my absolute favorite. giveaways? why yes, let’s schedule one of those shortly. would you prefer a shop credit or a big bundle of products?
i’m back and not planning on taking another break. i’ll certainly be planning ahead for nolan’s arrival and stocking up on products for the shop.

It’s totally cool to have a vent tent now and then and I totally get the difficulty and the feeling of wanting to do something that you’ve poured your heart into and not being able to…but you’re still here so that’s what matters. Love the quote at the top too.
If you’d like to link up on Photo Friday Blog hop- we’d love to have you- this post or any other fave. It’s up all weekend. Cheers!
Thanks for stopping by and for your support, xoxo
I can so relate with taking time off from blogging and running a shop and losing steam and feeling out of the loop. I’m trying my bestest to get back and I’m crossing my fingers all goes well. Cute space you have here! xx, Cassie
Thanks Cassie, good luck!!
