i’m always looking for new ideas to use scrap fabrics or leftover scrapbook paper on. while i was at our local bead shop, i came across some glass blanks and decided to try making some necklaces with them (yes, quickly after i got home- i realized this project has been by many other people with the same idea).
to complete this project you’ll need: mod podge, e-6000, glass blanks, a metal backing, long strips of scrap fabric or a metal chain, and either scrapbook paper or fabric for the design.
to start: cut your fabric/paper the same size as the glass. i traced around the square and then cut slightly less than the glass, so that it doesn’t hang over. i tried it with fabric and paper- both were easy peasy!
next: apply a layer of mod-podge on the back of the glass and press the fabric/paper over the top. make sure to get out any air bubbles. afterwards, use the e-6000 to adhere the metal backing. it should look like the first picture below when completed (and the second picture before you apply the fabric/paper).
lastly, you can use a chain or fabric strip to turn your new glass charm into a beautiful, unique necklace.

Those are so cute! I’ve seen them at craft shows and such I never realized how easy they are to make!
I love this! And yours is the first tutorial of this that I’ve seen! I may just have to make some and use up my fabric scraps!
Oh this is AWESOME! I haven’t seen a tutorial either!! So happy you posted this!!!!
Nice technique. I think I’ll be able to do my non-soldering project I’ve had in mind for a while. Thanks so much for sharing.
